During the time when the indoor environment is not suitable and there is a safety stop staying in, the students have outdoor lessons while waiting for the ventilation to be repaired.

- I have demanded a safety representative stop in the premises that currently have no ventilation due to a broken ventilation unit.

This only applies to parts of the school.

The principal and representatives on site are currently looking at opportunities to conduct teaching in alternative premises until the ventilation works again.

Without proper ventilation, staff and children are exposed to unnecessary risks, writes Nicklas Vigren, chief safety representative at the National Union of Teachers in a text message to SVT Nyheter Västernorrland.

Jenny Björkman, principal year 5-9 at Alneskolan, says that they are working feverishly to get the ventilation system up and running again.

- It is said that the things that are broken will come today.

The case is a high priority, says Jenny Björkman.

When a safety stop has been imposed, the employer must contact the Swedish Work Environment Authority, which will then carry out an inspection, on site or by telephone.

Only the Swedish Work Environment Authority can lift a safety stop, according to Nicklas Vigren.
