Tuesday evening, shortly before 7 p.m., in Lille, a traffic accident cost the life of a 16-year-old teenager, we learned from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of the North.

Help was called at 6:44 p.m. for an accident on rue de St-Amand, in the Fives district, between a heavy vehicle and a cyclist.

On their arrival on the spot, the firefighters noted that the victim, the teenager, was in cardio-ventilatory arrest.

Despite attempts at resuscitation, he was declared dead on the spot.

The accident occurred at a red light equipped with a bicycle lock under conditions which, however, remain to be determined.

A police investigation was also opened.

According to our colleagues from the

Voix du Nord

, it was by restarting at the green light that the driver of the truck ran over the cyclist he had not seen.
