Under the roof of "Expo 2020 Dubai", the activities of the 10th edition of the World of Coffee Exhibition (World of Coffee), the annual global gathering of pioneers of the coffee industry and its experts, which is organized for the first time in the Middle East region, kicked off yesterday.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, two approved national championships were launched, namely the UAE Connoisseurs Cup, and the finals of the UAE National Pitcher Championship, and the winners will have the opportunity to represent the UAE in the global finals hosted by the German capital, Berlin.

"I do not exaggerate when I say that the coffee drink that we participate in the competition targets those who do not like coffee or do not like coffee," said Amr Khaled, a coffee expert at Karam Coffee, one of the participating parties.

He added, "The exhibition provides the perfect platform to enhance communication between experts in preparing and preparing coffee and its lovers, and it is a wonderful event that brings together the various stakeholders in the Emirati coffee sector."

The exhibition also organizes the "Roasters Village" event, which provides the most prominent local and international coffee roasters with the opportunity to showcase their skills in roasting and preparing coffee, in addition to presenting their latest products and innovations.

For his part, Hot Pipes coffee expert, Adrian Polarca, said: “We came from Romania to the UAE specifically to introduce what we offer, and I personally participated in the courses in Budapest in 2017, and Berlin during 2019, and I brought here in Dubai Costa Rican coffee with strong notes. of chocolate, and secondary notes of fruity aroma.

He added, "(World of Coffee) contributes to enhancing communication in the sector, and the UAE is the ideal destination to host the exhibition for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa, given that it is home to many coffee lovers."

The exhibition also includes the tasting corner event, which allows exhibitors to serve coffee to a selection of gourmets in dedicated rooms.

For his part, Chris Reyes, Head of Sales and Operations at Blacksmith Roastery in Abu Dhabi, said: “We offer two different types of coffee, the first of which is Salvadoran, which is rich with light notes of fruity aroma, and the second is Colombian coffee, which has a strong chocolate flavor. From a decade of experience roasting the finest coffee, to provide our customers with the finest coffee flavors.”

An elite group of experts display their skills in preparing coffee through their work in the various cafes of the exhibition.

Exhibitors are vying to win award series in many areas.

Throughout its three days, the exhibition witnesses a series of educational and awareness activities, as the Specialty Coffee Association organizes a series of lectures and training programs in its pavilion and its own store in the exhibition.

The first day of the exhibition featured several sessions, in the presence and participation of local and international speakers, who shed light on topics, the most important of which are climate change and its impact on coffee prices.

In turn, the CEO of the Specialty Coffee Association, Yanis Apostolopoulos, welcomed the exhibitors and visitors to the "World of Coffee" in Dubai, noting that the first day witnessed busy activities with a series of lectures given by international experts, in addition to the UAE Connoisseurs Cup and the Jug Championship. Emirates National.
