Like many other cities, Karlskoga is struggling with fewer and fewer residents visiting the center to shop in the shops and eat at the restaurants.

To counteract this development, Karlskoga municipality has chosen to build an ice rink in the middle of Alfred Nobel's square.

- We thought it could be fun to test this idea, says the municipal board chairman Tony Ring.

The course is estimated to cost around SEK 900,000 and is driven by a compressor and loops under the ice that keep it cold even when it is freezing.

- It should work up to 13 plus degrees, so hopefully we can have it until April, says Tony Ring.
