“While maintaining law and order in the cities: Almaty, Shymkent and a number of regional centers, as a result of the confrontation with the hooligan crowd, the number of injured National Guard fighters reached 394 people,” said Ruslan Zhaksylykov, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard.
In addition, over 90 units of military equipment of the National Guard were damaged during the riots.
Earlier it was reported that the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, posthumously awarded 16 military personnel and police officers who died during the riots.
