Two million daily cases of “Covid-19” in the first week of 2022

More than two million cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the world daily in the first week of 2022, between the first and the seventh of January, a number that doubled within ten days, according to the AFP census.

The number of new infections has increased by 270% since the detection of the mutant Omicron in Botswana and South Africa at the end of November 2021.

Europe recorded the largest number of new infections, with a total of 7,211,290 cases, within seven days, an increase of 47% compared to last week.

The United States and Canada each recorded 49% and 33% of the cases that were counted in the world within a week, with a total of 4,808,098 injuries and an increase of 76% compared to the previous week.

And Covid-19 is spreading very quickly in all continents, as Australia recorded 369,313 injuries within seven days, an increase of 224 percent, in Latin America and the Caribbean recorded 1,126,862 cases, an increase of 148 percent, in the Middle East 209,021 infections within seven days, an increase of 116%, and in Asia 714,017 Injury increased by 145%.

Africa alone is currently recording balanced numbers of 304,224 injuries within seven days, but injuries have reached their highest levels since the start of the pandemic there, similar to Europe and the United States / Canada region.
