Norran was the first to report on the workplace accident that occurred at around 3 pm inside Northvolt's battery factory in Skellefteå.

The man, who is employed by a subcontractor, was injured in connection with the installation of a tank.

- There were chemical residues left in a pipe that he got over himself, says Anders Thor at Northvolt.

Minor injuries

The man was taken to the emergency room by ambulance, but is said to have survived with minor injuries.

- He has above all received a corrosive substance on the face, but also over the chest.

He was slightly injured and was alert and talkative.

We took him to the emergency room for decontamination and further care, says Tobias Hedqvist, health care manager at the ambulance in Skellefteå.

Reporting a workplace accident

The police have been on site and documented.

The case is handled as a workplace accident.

The accident must also be reported to the Swedish Work Environment Authority.

- The company he works for must make a report, says Anders Thor.

Will you take any action from Northvolt?

- After each incident, an investigation takes place and then we will see if we should take action.
