“We are closely following the situation in Kazakhstan and are concerned about what is happening,” he said during a briefing following an extraordinary session of the foreign ministers of NATO countries.

He also called for restraint, an end to violence and respect for human rights.

Earlier, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said that the state of emergency introduced in the country is yielding results.

According to him, constitutional legality is being restored in the republic.
