At the beginning of week two, the Jönköping County Region recommends that people with mild symptoms can isolate themselves at home and wait a few days to take a sample to see how it all develops.

Even asymptomatic people who have met someone who has received a positive test result for covid-19 can wait to test themselves until they possibly get some symptoms.

- This should be seen as a temporary recommendation as long as we have a limited sampling capacity and the most important thing is still that you who have symptoms stay at home, says assistant infection control doctor David Edenvik.

The laboratory will have halved capacity on Monday and Tuesday.

Care staff are given priority

However, people who have covid infection in their household are still recommended for sampling before leaving their quarantine.

People who work in health and care are still prioritized for sampling both for mild symptoms and in connection with infection tracing.

The pressure on sampling has been very high during the week with a record number of county residents who tested themselves, especially at the beginning of the week.

- It has been a little lower these days, but there are still many who test themselves, says Edenvik.

Will those who have tested themselves yesterday or today be affected by the limitations of the laboratory?

- No, they should not have to do that.

How long is the waiting time for an answer right now?

- Most should receive an answer in 48 hours, but it can also take longer for some.

In the clip below, you hear Charlotta Larsdotter, director of the health centers Bra liv, tell how large a proportion of those who have tested themselves have been told that they have covid-19.
