US-led coalition strikes firing positions in northeastern Syria

"Starting at about 15:40 today, coalition forces monitored several sites for the launch of indirect missiles ... in the vicinity of the (military base. -

) Green Village in Syria," RIA Novosti reported.

As noted, "acting in self-defense, the coalition forces launched strikes in order to eliminate the threat."

The coalition stressed that undirected attacks pose a serious threat to the civilian population of Syria and can provoke mass casualties. 

Earlier, Israeli F-16 fighters fired four guided missiles at a port in Syrian Latakia
