The Saudi-led coalition announced on Monday evening that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 5 new drones launched by the Houthi group towards the Kingdom, and said that it targeted Houthi sites in Shabwa Governorate (southeast of Yemen) and killed dozens of them.

The coalition said that the drones were launched from the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and confirmed that it is monitoring what it called the threat sources to destroy and neutralize them.

Before that, the coalition published video footage of the interception and destruction of 3 drones that it said the Houthis had launched towards the southern region of Saudi Arabia, stressing that all necessary measures were taken to protect the security of the Kingdom.

In response to attacks from Yemen by drones and ballistic missiles, the Saudi-led coalition recently carried out strikes targeting what it said were drone storage sites and ballistic missile platforms in Sanaa.

The coalition targets the Houthis

Meanwhile, the coalition announced that it had carried out 30 targeting of the Houthis in Shabwa governorate during the past 24 hours, stressing that they resulted in the destruction of 15 military vehicles and the killing of 133 Houthi militants.

In turn, Houthi media said that on Monday, the coalition launched 50 raids on the Usaylan district in the Shabwa governorate.

This comes while the Giants Brigades said that, with the support of the coalition, it was able to regain control of the Hajar Kahlan and Tawal Al-Sadah areas in the Asilan district of Shabwa governorate.

The Media Center of the Giants Brigades reported that the forces were continuing their advance towards the Al-Naqoub area, north of the city of Bayhan in Shabwa, and that units of them had fought violent battles against the Houthi group, during which dozens of Houthis were killed and others wounded.

And the Yemeni army announced that it had regained, on Saturday, the center of the Asilan district in Shabwa, after battles with the Houthis.

Last September, the Houthi group took control of 3 districts south of Shabwa, which are Usaylan, Bayhan and Ain.
