It was at 6.20 pm that the alarm was received about an accident.
One truck and two cars were involved and several people were injured.
- Two people in one car were taken directly to hospital and one person is examined on the spot by ambulance personnel, says internal officer at the rescue service Joel Johansson.
It is an adult and a child who have been taken to hospital.
At half past nine in the evening, the police announced that the child, a six-year-old boy, had died from his injuries.
Long queues
During the rescue work, the road has been closed in a northerly direction with long queues as a result.
- The focus for us is to secure and therefore it is closed.
We will get rid of the vehicles, clean up the roadway and try to get the traffic started as soon as possible, says Joel Johansson.
After a four-hour shutdown, the road could be reopened to traffic at 9.30pm.
