In France, at a time when records of Covid-19 contamination are being recorded, absences from work are disrupting many companies.

The situation in transport is of particular concern.

In the United States and China, airlines have carried out thousands of flight cancellations for lack of pilot and flight crew.

In France, carriers ensure that services are currently guaranteed in the normal way and that they are ready to adapt in the event of a wave of absenteeism.

Among passenger transport professionals, we want to be reassuring.

On the high-speed train, the SNCF promises normal service at the start of the week but while remaining vigilant for the rest.

Depending on upcoming reservations but also the number of drivers and controllers available, the number of trains may change, downward if necessary.

Adaptation capacity highlighted

Same wait-and-see attitude for regional transport where the authorities are preparing to adapt the offer in the face of the recent increase in positive cases and sick leaves. Monday morning January 3, according to our colleagues from RTL, there would be 11% absenteeism at RATP, SNCF and in the bus networks in the Paris region. Not enough to disrupt the service so far. “

For 20 months, we have been using our ability to adapt,

” says one of the Ile-de-France bus operators.

As for the air carrier Air France, we are not concerned by the waves of cancellations visible in America and Asia.

The management intends to rely, if necessary, on the "Solid'Air" plan which calls for volunteers for ground staff and the famous reserve for flight crews.
