Domestic violence: Pécresse pleads for a dedicated jurisdiction

"The subject of domestic violence has never been so present in the public debate" but this is "very far from sufficient", affirm the candidate and her spokesperson Aurélien Pradié in a column in Le Monde, published before a debate scheduled for Tuesday evening at the Assembly on the subject, at the request of the LR group.

"One of our first texts will involve the creation of a specialized jurisdiction, entirely devoted to the treatment of violence within the family", they add.

This jurisdiction, which they compare to that set up in 1945 for children, will be "present throughout the territory" and capable "of quickly deciding and installing a specific justice system for this scourge".

"This is a major advance that will be made possible by the commitment to increase the budget of the courts by 50% in five years", they say, criticizing the "shortcomings" of the government on the subject.

"Three women have died under the blows of their spouses in recent days, the government must take up this issue which is of public safety, dignity and efficiency of public action", insisted Valérie Pécresse in the aftermath. -mdi, after a visit to the National Federation of Solidarity Women in Pantin.

During these some two hours of meeting with leaders of associations and victims of domestic violence, "these women have testified to all the dysfunctions of a system", she added, pleading for "the rights of women to live a serene life, without being eaten up by fear, including after having lodged a complaint and obtained separations ".

Having a specialized jurisdiction will make it possible in particular "to better respect the six-day period" for issuing protection orders and to "target twenty-four hours for the greatest emergencies", estimate in their forum the candidate and her spokesperson who want also "increase the number" of emergency accommodation.

We must also "better train" police and gendarmes "in the reception and monitoring of women victims of violence", they specify.

The debate in the Assembly will focus on "the application of the law aimed at taking action against violence within the family".
