In Brazil, cases of 'Plurona' infected with the Corona 19 and the flu virus are coming out one after another.

According to the Brazilian media on the 3rd (local time), patients infected with Corona 19 and influenza A virus (H3N2) were reported in the northeastern state of Ceará and the southeastern states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

In a report released on the same day, Ceara state authorities said that two 1-year-old babies and a 50-year-old male living in the capital city of Fortaleza were confirmed to have been infected with Corona 19 and the influenza A virus (H3N2).

The two babies were admitted to a private hospital and were discharged because their condition did not worsen, and a man in his 50s said that he was not hospitalized because his symptoms were mild.

In Rio de Janeiro, a 16-year-old boy tested positive for COVID-19 and H3N2.

The boy started showing symptoms of a cold from last week, and as a result of testing at two medical facilities this week, it was confirmed that he was infected with both Corona 19 and H3N2.

The boy, an athlete, received both the COVID-19 and flu vaccines, and his symptoms are known to be relatively mild despite the diagnosis.

Authorities in Rio de Janeiro have confirmed that there is one more case of co-infection with COVID-19 and the flu, but the identity and health status have not been disclosed.

In São Paulo, a journalist tested positive for COVID-19 and the flu at the end of last month and is currently in self-isolation.

Hakeu Muareki, an infectious disease scientist, said, "Plurona is something to be concerned about, but it is not new.

He explained that this is a phenomenon that is occurring as the number of H3N2 infected patients increases in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.

Earlier, reports in Israel reported last week that an unvaccinated pregnant woman contracted COVID-19 and the flu virus at the same time.

There are also claims that it is the world's first case of simultaneous infection with COVID-19 and the flu virus, but it is reported that there was a similar report in the United States early last year.
