The Israeli newspaper, Jerusalem Post, said today, Monday, that its website had been hacked, and described the matter as a clear threat to Israel.

And the English-language daily added - in a tweet on Twitter - that it is working to solve the problem.

Upon penetration, a picture appeared on the website's homepage referring to Major General Qassem Soleimani, who was the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and was assassinated in an air strike by an American drone in Iraq on this day in 2020.

The photo shows a shell fired from a red ring, in reference to a distinctive ring that Soleimani was famous for.

The photo included a phrase that read, "We are closer to you than you can imagine."

We are aware of the apparent hacking of our website, alongside a direct threat of Israel.

We are working to resolve the issue & thank readers for your patience and understanding.
