"The secretary of state and foreign ministers discussed Russia's destabilizing military build-up along the Ukrainian border, as well as the need to develop a unified and decisive NATO position on the collective protection of its allies," the statement said.

It is noted that Washington plans to continue consultations with partners to work out a solution.

The Bucharest Nine includes Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Czech Republic and Estonia.

Earlier it was reported that Blinken and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed by phone coordination of actions in the context of the situation around Ukraine and cooperation within NATO.
