Two men were indicted and remanded in custody this Sunday after the murder of a 26-year-old man.
The victim was stabbed to death during an evening organized on New Year's Eve in Saint-Brieuc, the city's public prosecutor announced on Sunday.
The suspects were indicted on counts of murder and aiding and abetting murder.
The facts occurred on Saturday around 4.30 am on January 1, during an evening organized by a 29-year-old man in an apartment in Saint-Brieuc, in which the victim and his companion participated.
“The participants there consumed alcohol and drugs.
During the evening, an altercation broke out (...) between the tenant of the apartment and organizer of the evening, another 21-year-old individual also placed in police custody, the victim and his companion ”, indicates the prosecutor of the Republic of Saint-Brieuc, Nicolas Heitz, in a press release.
Intoxicated
“The organizer of the evening punched the victim who replied with kicks. The 21-year-old then went to get a knife and hit the victim and then stabbed him, ”the statement added. The couple then left the accommodation and the man remained lying on the ground, inanimate, between the 3rd and the 4th floor of the building. The emergency services tried in vain to resuscitate the victim, wounded by a stab in the heart. The death was declared at 5.30 a.m. An autopsy will be performed on Monday in Rennes.
The organizer of the evening and the 21-year-old man, both of whom were drunk, were taken into police custody.
The second admitted from his first hearing "having stabbed", a gesture he explained "by the insults that the victim had formulated against his mother," said the prosecutor.
The alleged perpetrator threw the knife into a garbage chute.
His criminal record bears no trace of any conviction.
The organizer of the evening declared for his part that he "was sleeping at the time of the facts" and that he had "not committed any violence".
His criminal record shows seven convictions for traffic offenses, theft and drug offenses.
