According to the police, the woman was last seen at a grocery store on Strömgatan at closing time.
On Saturday afternoon, the police also used helicopters in the search and stated that they were working "with a large resource".
At around 6 pm, the police announced that they would begin search operations and diving in the water around Kvarnholmen.
- The situation is unchanged and she is still missing, says police spokesperson Evelina Olsson.
Later on Saturday evening, the search area was expanded to include most of Kalmar and the coast.
Home Guard and volunteers
On Sunday, the search will be expanded with resources from the Home Guard and the voluntary organization Missing People.
The public in the area is urged to keep an eye on their plots and other spaces.
