• 2022 will be punctuated by presidential and legislative elections, but also major sporting events: the Winter Olympics in Tokyo and the World Cup in Qatar in November.

    20 Minutes

reveals four personalities from Louire-Atlantique who will also be in the news.

  • Urban planner Jacqueline Osty, co-author of Machines de l'île Pierre Orefice, restaurateur Sarah Mainguy and Hellfest director Ben Barbaud will be talking about them.

They have already had the opportunity to be talked about in recent years.

But for these four personalities from the Nantes region, the news will undoubtedly be particularly busy in 2022. All four are indeed carrying a project that will appeal to the general public in the coming months.

Focus.

Jacqueline Osty, she transforms Commerce and the island of Nantes

The people of Nantes know it well, the Place du Commerce area has been under construction for three years. But, in 2022, that's it, the work will come to an end. It is the landscaper Jacqueline Osty who is piloting the redevelopment of this emblematic area of the city center. It was she who imagined the vast pedestrian plateau adorned with fountains and planted beds, which will be revealed at the start of the next school year. By then, the Place du Commerce and its underground car park will have been renovated. Her mission accomplished, Jacqueline Osty, 67, will not leave the City of the Dukes for all that. Because the winner of the Grand Prix de l'urbanisme 2020 is also in charge of the transformation of the west of the island of Nantes. The most spectacular phase will be unveiled in the coming months with the first construction of buildings in the new République district, around the future CHU. The work will take about ten years.

Pierre Orefice, decision time for the Heron Tree

He readily admits that the Heron Tree is the “project of a lifetime”. But Pierre Orefice does not yet know whether this immense vegetated steel structure, of which he has been defending the interest for more than fifteen years, will really see the light of day in 2027 in the lower Chantenay in Nantes. A decisive vote on the financing of the project, estimated at 52 million euros, will indeed take place in February at the metropolitan council. If the no ends up winning among elected officials, the inescapable director and co-author of Les Machines de l'île would then have to announce his retirement. Aged 67, the man whose long career in street theater led him to work with Royal de Luxe, Mano Negra or Groland, however, wants to be confident. “With François [Delarozière, another co-author of Les Machines],we have worked hard to explain what the Heron Tree will bring to the city. We also know that there is a big desire from the public. He concludes with mischief. “When the Tree is there, I hope they [the opponents] will come with their children. "

Sarah Mainguy, after the TV success, a new restaurant

The public discovered her last year in "Top Chef" on M6, where she lost in the final.

The sparkling chef Sarah Mainguy, at the head of the bistro Vacarme in downtown Nantes, will continue to be talked about in 2022. After having set up an ephemeral restaurant in Paris and figured among the “young talents” of the culinary guide Gault and Millau, the young 27-year-old woman plans to open her second restaurant this summer, still in Nantes.

"It will be a gastro where we will break the codes," she announces.

A cuisine focused on plants and gathering, where I could express myself a little more.

“In the midst of other professional projects still secret, notably with the Tables de Nantes, Sarah is preparing to become a mother in February.

Ben Barbaud, a double Helffest (and more) to bounce back

Metal fans are waiting for this.

After two years of frustrating cancellations due to coronavirus, Hellfest promises a grandiose return in June 2022. Because it is not one but two festivals that are scheduled a week apart in Clisson.

An idea from the founder Ben Barbaud, who wants to make this exceptional edition an event that we will “remember in 40 years”.

The menu is all the more tantalizing as the legendary American band Metallica will be present for the first time on June 26.

Guns N 'Roses, Scorpions, Deftones or Nine Inch Nails will also be there.

As if that were not enough, Ben Barbaud has concocted, as a warm-up, a concert tour in 19 French venues in the spring.

The final is scheduled for May 7, at the Cité des Congrès in Nantes.
