Jordan tightens entry rules for public and private institutions, starting today

The new Jordanian government measures related to the Corona virus, which allow only vaccinators and holders of negative virus detection tests to enter government departments, shops, restaurants, bakeries, cafes and hotels in the Kingdom, came into effect from today, Saturday.

According to the new defense order issued by Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh, “A public sector employee, or a worker in private sector facilities, is not allowed to join work unless he receives two doses of the Corona vaccine, and the days in which he is not allowed to work or work are deducted from his annual leave balance. In the event that his annual leave balance has been exhausted, he is considered to be on leave without pay and allowances.

He added, "Anyone over 18 years of age is not allowed to review any of the ministries, government departments, official institutions or public institutions, or enter any of the private sector facilities, unless he received two doses of the vaccine," with the exception of hospitals and health centers "in emergency cases." .

The new procedures stipulate “closing the private sector facility that allows an employee in the facility to join work without receiving the vaccine, for a period of one week if the violation is for the first time, and for two weeks in the event of a repeat violation.”

The measure stipulates that every institution, shopping or entertainment center that allows entry to anyone over the age of 18 who has not received the vaccine, will be penalized with a fine of 1,000 dinars ($1,410) for the first violation, 3,000 dinars ($4,230) for the second violation, and 5,000 dinars ($7,050). for the third violation, and a one-week closure in the event that the violation is repeated after that.

The procedures do not apply to people who did not receive the two doses of the vaccine for medical reasons, provided that “these are obligated to bring a negative PCR test that is valid for 72 hours.”
