[Concurrent] President Xi Jinping’s New Year’s Message in 2012

I once talked about the "cave-dwelling pairing" between Chairman Mao and Mr. Huang Yanpei. Only by courage to revolutionize ourselves can we win historical initiative.

[Explanation] What President Xi Jinping mentioned in his New Year's message in 2022 was a famous dialogue between Mao Zedong and the founder of China Democratic National Construction Association Huang Yanpei in Yan'an in 1945. The history was called "Cave Dwelling Pair".

Huang Fangyi, the son of Huang Yanpei, talked about the origin of this historical story in an exclusive interview with China News Agency.

At that time, Japan surrendered on August 14, 1945, and Japan’s defeat in July and June was set, that is, the dawn of victory in the Anti-Japanese War has been revealed. Therefore, Huang Yanpei felt that after the Anti-Japanese War, there must be a new situation of cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.

He joined 5 other politicians at that time to Yan'an.

[Explanation] Huang Yanpei and his party lived in the Yan'an Revolutionary Base for 5 days. During this period, they visited many places in Yan'an. They personally felt that Yan'an was harmonious and energetic, and left a deep impression.

This trip to Yan'an was also the first formal meeting between Huang Yanpei and Mao Zedong. The two of them hit it off right away, and they talked for more than ten hours in five days.

In the cave dwelling where Mao Zedong lived, they left this famous "Cave Dwelling Pair".

Huang Yanpei said: "One person, one country, one group. In the early days, no one was attentive, no one was indifferent, and no one did not work hard. Later, when the situation gradually improved, the spirit was let go... In short, it slowly collapsed. So I hope. The princes of the Chinese Communist Party are doing very well now, and in the future they can avoid this cyclical dominance of the death of the government."

Chairman Mao said that we have found a new road, and this new road is democracy.

[Explanation] Mao Zedong and Huang Yanpei's few words still have profound warning significance to this day.

After finishing his trip to Yan'an, Huang Yanpei once wrote the book "The Return of Yan'an". He wrote: "Using democracy to break this cycle rate is afraid it will be effective."

[Explanation] After the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China entered Peiping, Mao Zedong met Huang Yanpei again at the Xiangshan Shuangqing Villa.

Mao Zedong expressed the hope that Huang Yanpei would become a "friend" of the CCP and put forward opinions for the CCP. Huang Yanpei did not fail to trust him and was outspoken on many major issues.

Write a letter to Chairman Mao, saying that the current economic situation is not good, the rural areas are high in purchasing, the urban economy is sluggish, and the money supply is tightening. Just use a few words: finances are improving, and people's hearts are deteriorating.

Mao Zedong not only accepted it, but also invited Huang Yanpei to print out Huang Yanpei's letter as a document issued by the Government Administration Council, so Chairman Mao's mind was really tolerable.

[Concurrent] President Xi Jinping’s New Year’s Message in 2012

The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation can never be achieved easily, with gongs and drums, nor can it be achieved overnight.

We must always be far-sighted, be prepared for danger in times of peace, maintain strategic determination and patience, and "be great and subtle."

【Explanation】Think about danger and seek peace, and think about retreat so that you can enter.

The pair of cave dwellings in the past are still echoing on the road of Chinese national rejuvenation. They are always spurring and vigilant. Don't forget the original aspirations and have a long way to go.
