You might be getting ready to hit the road this New Year's Eve Friday night to a party, with friends, to celebrate the New Year.

In Auch in the Gers, a yellow card operation was carried out.

The prefecture of the department offered motorists to participate in an awareness training course rather than being fined.

To avoid excesses and accidents, the prefecture of Gers and the prosecutor's office in Auch organized the yellow card operation on Thursday.

An awareness campaign for offenders rather than a fine and a few points less.

The perpetrators of petty traffic offenses could immediately participate in this course.

Raise awareness of the dangers of speeding and alcohol

"You have been the subject of a speed control", announces a police officer to Laurent.

He has just been checked at 98km / h instead of 80. But rather than being fined he agreed to participate in this twenty-minute course.

He is made aware of the risks of alcohol.

“You eliminate it 0.15 grams per hour,” he continues.

The firefighters also show him images of accidents in which they have intervened.

What remind him of the dangers of excessive speed.

"Pictures like that don't hurt. It's a nice reminder and now I'm going to get behind the wheel and think about it," confirms Laurent.

For the prosecutor of Auch Jean-Edouard Andrault, the idea is to recall the right gestures just before New Year's Eve.

"We know that it is a day when there can be excess alcohol. There are accidents. The idea is to ensure that all of this is avoided by betting on the citizen conscience of each."

This New Year's Eve, the police and gendarmes will again be mobilized on the roads but this time there will be no alternative to the ticket.
