It has become a tradition.

Since 2015, Mikael Söderström and colleagues have arranged a New Year's bath at Obbola, a few miles outside Umeå.

This year, about a hundred people had braved the bitter cold to take a New Year's dip in the 12-meter-long iceberg.

The queue for the ice wake meandered long.

- There have been a lot of people.

I have tried to spread them as best I can, but people still go together.

I still think it has gone well, in the sauna and in tents they have kept their distance, says Mikael Söderström.

Many beginners

The event not only attracted experienced ice wax bathers.

- There have been very many new people who took a winter bath for the first time and it is always fun.

One of them was Simon Hannus.

You can see more about his experience in the clip above.

Nice reactions

And on the whole, Mikael Söderström is satisfied.

- I have received nice reactions.

People have sent text messages and thanked for today and think it has been great.

It feels great, he says.

The experienced ice wax swimmer Ingrid Ackevald is one of those who appreciated the event.

- He's an incredible Mikael.

It is huge to have the sauna and this long awake that you can actually swim in, she says.

In the clip, you meet the beginner Simon and the experienced ice swimmer Ingrid, who braved the cold and took a dip on New Year's Eve.
