In the clip, Mårten Krøgholt talks about his hardships to get home to Denmark.

Since Tuesday, December 28, foreign citizens must have a negative covid test to enter Sweden.

Information that apparently did not reach everyone it touches.

SVT's reporter on site at the Norwegian-Swedish border was met on Thursday by confusion and frustration - but also to a certain extent stated understanding.

During Tuesday and Wednesday, around 400 people per day were stopped at Svinesund, primarily bus passengers.

A bit into Thursday, another hundred had been forced to turn around, most of them private motorists.

Negativ covid-test

The reason was that they did not have a maximum of 48 hours old negative covid test.

It has been required since 28 December for all foreign nationals over the age of twelve.

- We saw a sign on the way to Sweden, where it said we must have a PCR test.

It was only then that we realized that vaccination alone was not enough.

Of course I understand that we have to be tested, but it is unfortunate for us that it will come now when we go home, says Morten Krøgholt from Denmark.

Exceptions for truck drivers

Björn Wehlou, chief of police operations at the border police in Strömstad, was also present at the border.

- We carry out inspections and there has been a lot of pressure, even though it calmed down a bit on Thursday.

As a rule, this applies to foreign citizens, but there are exceptions, for example, for truck drivers who drive regularly, he says.

Many of the travelers who were to go to Sweden were disappointed and frustrated, but many have understood the extra control.

Those who, after all, want to go to Sweden can go back to Oslo and do a new test, as it is not possible to test themselves at the border.
