The Moroccan authorities have detected groups that are organizing a meeting at 00:00 New Year's hours in Castillejos (Fnideq) with the intention of accessing Ceuta. For this reason, the head of the Moroccan Government has asked the Minister of the Interior to issue orders to the prefectures of Tetouan and Mdiq (Rincón) to forcefully control and contain people who intend to approach the area with the intention of crossing the Bab border Septa to arrive in Spain irregularly. It has been ordered to "shield the accesses" from the road that bypasses Fnideq (Castillejos) and ends at the border crossing, as well as the access from the road that directly connects customs with the road that goes to Tangier.

According to sources close to the Moroccan Government, activity has been detected in social networks and WhatsApp groups organizing the meeting to try a massive crossing of people to Ceuta.

In the surroundings of the border crossing there is a large deployment of Moroccan security forces, police and Royal Gendarmerie, which have been reinforced with the arrival, this Thursday, of more than a thousand agents.

People who decide to approach the vicinity of the border facilities will even be detained.

The Moroccan authorities also warn that any person who disobeys the order not to approach the border will be placed at the disposal of the Attorney General of the Kingdom for prosecution, and may be sentenced to prison terms and fines.

In this way, Morocco wants to avoid an episode similar to the one that occurred on Christmas Eve, when hundreds of people arrived from different parts of the country attracted by the false news that they could enter in the same conditions as in the May, when more than 10,000 people crossed irregularly into Ceuta.

An event that generated an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the autonomous city and that was responded to by the Spanish Government by deploying the Army to help the state security forces to control the situation.

The police are still investigating the hoaxes that spread the week before and that led to the arrest of three people who were brought to justice.
