During the Christmas and New Year weekend, the train company SJ has announced that it cancels about 30 train departures per day, but that passengers have been rebooked to other trains.

Lars Lindberg, head of traffic and service at SJ, now announces that the problem looks set to continue during the first quarter of 2022.

- We will have a small reduction in the number of trips during at least January and February, but maybe also in March.

It will gradually get better.

Right now we ensure that we can drive the traffic we want to drive.

Then we have to make sure we get schedules that work for the staff, he tells DN.

New planning tool is behind it

The background is that SJ has recently changed to a new planning tool that is responsible for both the employees' schedules and the train timetable.

This has led to canceled departures and frustration for the staff.

The problem lies in the difficulty of getting both staff and trains to the right part of Sweden to follow the timetable.

Lars Lindberg, who recently changed position within SJ, believes that it is important not to try to smooth over the existing problems and work systematically to solve them.

The planning tool was launched in October.

SJ has previously stated that it is not possible to go back to the old planning tool.
