Energy Germany suspends the certification of the gas pipeline 'Nord Stream 2'
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today that the Gazprom consortium filled both branches of the controversial Nord Stream gas pipeline with gas, which would be ready to supply hydrocarbon to Germany from the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
"
The Nord Stream 2 is ready to go,
" Putin said during a telematic meeting. Putin, who congratulated Gazprom and its partners for completing the second branch today, explained that
now "everything depends" on European consumers
and the German regulator, which stopped the certification process until Moscow complies with all the procedures.
"As soon as they make the decision to start the works, large volumes will start pumping to Europe, additional volumes of Russian gas. I remember that it is about
55 billion cubic meters a year,
" he said.
Putin stressed that, given the difficult situation on the continent,
Russia has the capacity to "increase gas exports
", in addition to the fact that filling the two branches of Nord Stream 2 "will contribute to solving the problem of price stabilization in the European market ".
