USA Maxwell-Epstein: taxidermy, erotic photos together and visit to the home of Elizabeth II
With the trial finalized, juries must now unanimously decide whether to reach a verdict of guilt or innocence.
In case of not reaching an agreement, the trial would be considered void and would have to be repeated.
Who?
Ghislaine Maxwell
.
The former girlfriend of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and daughter of British media mogul Robert Maxell has traded in private jets for orange jumpsuits and exotic trips for transfers from jail to court.
This will be the case at least until after Christmas, waiting for the popular jury to reach a verdict on his controversial case.
WHY?
For six alleged crimes
. Maxwell is charged with six crimes (inciting a minor to commit illegal sexual acts, transporting a minor with the intention of engaging in illegal sexual activities, and sex trafficking with a minor, in addition to three counts of conspiracy) for which she could be convicted to a maximum penalty of 40 years. A de facto life sentence considering that the British socialite has faced this judicial process with 59 years of age. According to the prosecution's account, Ghislaine Maxwell would be "a sophisticated predator who knew what he was doing and who applied the same manual over and over again" in order to attract minors for Epstein and make them participants in his sexual perversions . Meanwhile,Maxwell's defense maintains that the British is being used as a scapegoat by US authorities after Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide while awaiting trial.
WHERE?
In New York
.
The process against Maxwell is taking place in federal court in Manhattan (New York).
As it is a federal trial, it is not broadcast by streaming nor is the presence of cameras allowed in the courtroom.
However, it has been a process marked by the spectacularity in which Maxwell's relatives have even denounced to groups of journalists that the accused was being subjected to mistreatment and sleep deprivation during her detention.
After a break for the weekend, this Tuesday the jury met again for deliberation, which is expected to arrive this week.
