This was announced on Twitter by Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna.
“Immediately before the official start of the eighth round of the Vienna talks, I met with the US special envoy for Iran, Robert Mally,” he said.
Ulyanov noted that the parties exchanged views on a number of issues discussed at the talks on the restoration of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program.
Earlier it was reported that the seventh round of negotiations on the JCPOA ended in Vienna on December 17.
