Since Thursday, December 23, vaccination against Covid is mandatory in the Comoros.

Any adult controlled by the police without their up-to-date vaccination card is taken to the gendarmerie to be vaccinated.

Five days of paid leave were granted by presidential decree in order to allow everyone to return to their localities of origin to receive the vaccine.

Despite the strict and often unannounced controls, some still refuse the bite.

With our correspondent in Moroni,

Anziza M'Changama

Voices are rising on social networks to denounce the non-compliance with the rules of vaccine effectiveness.

We do not test offenders when we must be sure not to have the virus to be vaccinated.

A recalcitrant explains himself.

I am not vaccinated because here in the Comoros, we do not even know what his state of health is.

And now, should we get vaccinated?

The government is suing us to vaccinate us !?

If I see them I run away, since I am not vaccinated.

I stay in Moroni and just don't take a car anymore.

I know all the ways so I can run immediately

For others, it is a question of individual freedom.

I am not vaccinated.

I'm not sick, so I'm not going to take an injection without getting sick.

I have yet to understand this story of taking medicine before I get sick.

Since I was born, the logic has been: you are sick, you go to the hospital. "But not" you are fine, you are going to the hospital ". If they manage to take me to the gendarmerie, I don't know how I will do it. But as long as I am free, I will not go for the vaccination on my own

Checks should continue for at least 48 hours.
