Former Archbishop of South Africa and Nobel Laureate Desmond Tutu has died at the age of 90.

- He has prayed, rested and concluded between himself and his creator as he sees it, continues Niclas Kjellström-Matseke who is also chairman of the Desmond Tutu Foundation.

Alongside Nelson Mandela, Tutu was considered the most prominent figure for a democratic South Africa and in the fight against apartheid, and the news of his death has aroused strong feelings.

To SVT's correspondent, Johannesburg residents describe him as a leader without equal.

- He was the father figure of the nation.

Whether you were king or homeless, he treated everyone the same.
