Outside, a plane crashes for landing at the airport in Skellefteå with ordinary jet fuel in mind.

In a small quiet hangar next door, the parts for two electric planes are put together and on campus, the flight simulator is ready for students.

- We are a bit of a pioneer, which means that we have to do things in new ways, says Olov Hultdin.

Electric aircraft can not be up in the air for as long and therefore exercises must be designed differently.

But the traffic school's students get to train more on takeoff and landing.

Want to be first in the transition

The ambition is to create a "green" traffic school.

- We strongly believe in this.

We will see if there will then be a battery or hydrogen or some other technology to make the change.

We will invest in what is most environmentally friendly and believe that it will be necessary to be involved in the future, says Olov Hultdin.

Prospective pilots in progress

He sees Skellefteå as a good place for various tests that drive development, such as challenges with cold climates.

According to him, several different projects are currently underway here, including taxi flights.

- A lot happens around Northvolt and campus, but what made our entire investment possible is the charging station at the airport, says the flight academy's CEO.

At Skellefteå airport, there is now Sweden's most powerful charging station for electric aircraft.

And according to Olov Hultdin, the future pilots are not far away - hear more about it in the clip.
