There were many Gothenburgers who opted out of the fire, lit candles and sofa hangers for a while and went to Fiskebäcksbadet for a dip on Christmas day.

Dressed in Santa hats, glitter and swimwear, the Christmas celebrants rushed down into the five degree warm sea.

Johan Gunnebo usually takes a Christmas bath, but it was the first year he did it at Fiskebäcksbadet.

- Thought I would hang out with this big gang, and it will be a new tradition from now on, he says.

Collects money for charity

The tradition is eight years old, with a break in 2020 when the pandemic put an end to the shared bath.

In connection with the Christmas bath, there is a fundraiser for research on the incurable disease Sanfilippo type C, which is also called childhood dementia.

The initiators of the Christmas bath are happy that so many are getting involved.

- Today there are around 150 who bathe, and there are usually even more, says Magnus Thunberg, one of the initiators.

In the clip, you hear some of the Christmas bathers tell what they thought about the water temperature.
