Angolan Minister of Transport, Ricardo De Ebriu, stressed that relations between his country and the UAE are developing very well, and are constantly looking to increase the level of cooperation in various fields, including the economic and investment sectors, noting that the volume of trade between the two countries is witnessing continuous growth to exceed the one billion dollar barrier. He indicated that DB World's current investments in Luanda Port amount to about $200 million, pointing out that the logistics sector in Angola has great attractiveness, given the advantages it offers to companies wishing to invest, and there are other opportunities in the same field in other ports. The Angolan minister revealed that DB World is currently participating in a tender related to the development of the Lobito corridor, which is an infrastructure project that integrates the port of Lobito and the railway that allows the transport of goods between Angola and South African markets, explaining that "the project aims to enhance trade opportunities, Facilitating the transportation of goods between large parts of the region, and it is expected that the winning company will be announced in mid-January 2022.

He continued, "We also signed memoranda of understanding during our visit to the UAE, part of which is related to developing the logistics sector and discovering more opportunities in this vital field, as the two countries look forward to exploring more investment opportunities in several fields."

He said: "In 2020, Angola agreed to the master plan for the transport sector, which focuses on two axes, the first: taking advantage of the geographical location to be an important logistical center in Central and Southern Africa, and the second: addressing the issue of urban mobility, and we are communicating with the UAE side, in the framework of work On the first axis, which is to take advantage of the geographical location and turn Angola into a major regional station in the region.

He continued: "Our participation in (Expo 2020 Dubai) is of special importance, as the exhibition is a global event that provides the opportunity for all participating countries and visitors to communicate in the framework of sharing knowledge and culture, as well as establishing partnerships and business, and that is why Angola was very keen on its presence in the exhibition."

The Angola Pavilion is located in the "mobility" area of ​​"Expo 2020 Dubai", and explores the history of the African country linked to the authentic cultural heritage of the "Chukwe people".

The indigenous Chokwe people have preserved their cultural roots, through drawings made of sand grains drawn in the form of beautifully repeated rings, which embody their written symbols “ideogram”, the language of Angola, using grains of sand that have been passed down through generations.

The pavilion, whose design was inspired by the art of sand painting, raises the slogan “Linking with tradition with the aim of innovation.” The pavilion’s exhibits emphasize the possibility of using traditional governance in innovative ways, in order to rethink local and global problems, as it revives the art of storytelling.
