In addition to the extraordinary Council of Ministers on Monday, Emmanuel Macron will chair a new health defense council, while the Covid-19 contamination figures are panicking in France.

Nearly 100,000 cases were detected on Thursday.

Are we heading towards new restrictions?

It has almost become a habit, announcements of new measures are always preceded by a health defense council.

If the executive absolutely did not want to prevent the French from celebrating Christmas and reuniting with family after an already complicated year, the tone is much more measured as soon as we speak of December 31 in the entourage of the head of the State.

Last Christmas, it will be the opportunity, Monday at 4 p.m., by videoconference, to make an update for Emmanuel Macron, to analyze the very latest figures on the Covid-19.

And if the Head of State considers it necessary, he will not hesitate.

At least, he will have a lot less qualms than for Christmas.

A planned speech by Castex

This defense council will be followed, Monday at 5 p.m., by an exceptional Council of Ministers for the presentation of the draft law on the vaccine pass.

At the end, it is expected that the government spokesperson, Gabriel Attal, will speak as usual after each Council of Ministers.

But a speech by Prime Minister Jean Castex is not ruled out.

Some see it as a sign that new restrictions by December 31 are indeed being considered.
