Ladji Yoro was a symbol of popular resistance to terrorism.

His team was ambushed on the evening of Thursday, December 23 on the Ouahigouya-Titao axis, in northern Burkina Faso.

Since the start of the terrorist attacks, this farmer had left his hoes for weapons.

The country is in shock.

President Kaboré paid tribute to "

an intrepid volunteer for the defense of the fatherland

With our correspondent in Ouagadougou,

Titao, the capital of Lorum province, has been under the diktat of armed terrorist groups for two weeks.

All access to the city under their control.

And consumer products are lacking.

Thursday, while they were escorting traders who were trying to supply this town, volunteers for the defense of the fatherland (VDP) fell into an ambush.

During the shooting, three of them are killed and Ladji Yoro, their leader, is injured.

He later succumbed to his injuries.

He and his men had taken part in numerous battles against armed terrorist groups despite their limited means.

The whole country is in shock and everyone salutes the memory of this civilian auxiliary of the armed forces, who defended northern Burkina Faso to the cost of his life.

This intrepid volunteer for the defense of the fatherland must be a model of our determined commitment to fight the enemy until the supreme sacrifice

", published on the social network Twitter President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.

Homage to Ladji Yoro, who died for the Fatherland.

This intrepid Volunteer for the Defense of the Fatherland must be the model of our determined commitment to fight the enemy.

I associate with this tribute, all the VDP who fight tirelessly until the supreme sacrifice. # BurkinaFaso

It is quite a symbol of popular resistance which is collapsing

", writes Abdoul Karim Saïdou, teacher at Thomas Sankara University.

Lengha fils, an Internet user, underlines that “

Ladji Yoro lived what the life of a general should be like in times of war

 ”.
