is known that President Moon Jae-in is considering a special amnesty for former President Park Geun-hye.
After being imprisoned for the Gukjeong Nongdan incident on March 31, 2017, former President Park has served the longest period of four years and nine months in prison among former presidents.
In the meantime, he has been receiving shoulder and back discs from outside hospitals and detention centers, but it is known that his health condition has rapidly deteriorated, such as receiving psychiatric treatment for anxiety symptoms.
The Ministry of Justice initially reviewed the suspension of the execution of former President Park, but the former President's side did not apply for suspension of execution.
Previously, former President Park's side applied for suspension of execution for health reasons twice in 2019, but Yoon Seok-yeol, then Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, did not accept it.
The Ministry of Justice said that former President Park was not included in the deliberation for the special amnesty held for two days starting on the 20th, but President Moon seems to be contemplating whether to finally include it in the amnesty.
It is also known that President Moon is considering pardoning former Prime Minister Han Myung-sook and then Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Roh Moo-hyun, who was released from prison in 2017 after being imprisoned for receiving illegal political funds.
