Cairo -

Untimely, the journalist Amr Adib - who is described as being close to the Egyptian authority - came out to talk about the strength of relations between Egypt and the UAE and remind the Egyptians that the UAE has been a strong ally of their country during the past years, so what is the reason?

It seemed that Adeeb was responding to something he did not say, even if he hinted that attempts are being made to question the strength of this relationship at present, or to point to negative positions taken by the UAE towards Egypt.

During his presentation of the "Al-Hekaya" program - broadcast on the Saudi-owned satellite channel MBC Egypt - Adeeb said that "there are attempts to convince Egyptians that the UAE is not a good country", in an attempt to strip the decades-old love of the Emirates from the hearts of Egyptians. , According to him.

The Egyptian media praised the UAE's position on the events of June 30, 2013, when the world stood before Egypt - as he put it - and the UAE made shuttle tours to convince the world that what happened was not a coup, and also supported the Central Bank and established investments in billions, stressing that the UAE did not abandon Egypt. never.

Adeeb added that he notes the existence of what he described as "fingers playing in the relations between Egypt and the Emirates, which were, are and will remain an ally of Egypt thanks to Sheikh Zayed's will for his sons to put Egypt in their eyes," stressing that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has a very good relationship with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayd.

Amr Adib concluded his paragraph by emphasizing his love for the UAE and praying, "Our Lord, we do not enter among the children of the forbidden, no hashtag, and no devil."

The ambassador and the issue of major antiquities

And there was talk in recent days about the possibility of a relationship with an Emirati figure in the “Great Antiquities” case, after the Egyptian ambassador, Mohamed Morsi, posted - on his Facebook page last Friday - that the decision to deport the Emirati ambassador came “after investigations revealed the famous businessman Hassan Rateb and his partner, a former member of parliament. Alaa Hassanein on his involvement (the Emirati ambassador) in smuggling Egyptian antiquities with Emirati diplomatic bags.

He commented on the decision, saying that it is a correct decision that confirms the vigilance of the Egyptian security and oversight services, and the good behavior of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by dealing with the matter professionally and without provocation, in the interest of relations with the UAE, before he later deleted the publication.

And Emirati politician and academic Abdul Khaleq Abdullah - who posted last Monday on Twitter - followed him that one of the country's ambassadors made mistakes during his work as an ambassador, pointing out that he was under investigation, before deleting the tweet at a later time, without apologizing for it, as the Egyptian diplomat did.

Abdel-Khaleq Abdullah did not talk about the smuggling incident or the expulsion of the ambassador directly, but said that "he was summoned urgently and quickly replaced, and he is currently under investigation and a fair trial, and the results and details of the case will be announced transparently on time, and that it is a matter that may happen anywhere and at any time and for any ambassador who exceeds his powers." Diplomacy, no one is above the law: ambassador, sentry, director or emir.

With the Egyptian ambassador Mohamed Morsi retracting out of fear and greed from what he wrote about expelling the UAE ambassador in Cairo, accusing him of being involved in smuggling antiquities, within the case in which the businessman Hassan Ratib is accused, Abdel-Khaleq Abdullah admits to withdrawing an ambassador to his country, and submitting to investigations, on a promise to announce the truth. .

In the apricot, God willing!

Criticisms of the Emirates

For the supporters of the authority in Egypt, the UAE was a close ally, perhaps even the closest ally, but the past two years have witnessed some timid criticism of the Emirates, most of which focus on two files: Emirati relations with Israel and Ethiopia.

Where the Emirati-Israeli relations witnessed a great acceleration during the past year, and witnessed projects that some see as threatening Egypt's position in the region;

The most important of which is the talk about activating the Israeli "Eilat Ashkelon" line in both directions, which is parallel to the Suez Canal from the east, and the Emirati-Israeli agreement to develop important Israeli ports competing with the Egyptian ports, such as Haifa, Ashdod, Eilat and others.

These projects also include the establishment of 3 free trade zones between the Emirates and Tel Aviv that allow the exchange of goods and services between the two countries worth billions of dollars, and allow Israeli companies to access world markets, especially the markets of China, India, Japan, Southeast Asia and East Africa.

In contrast to the Israeli file, there are rumors about Emirati roles in helping Ethiopia, which are causing distress and concern for Egyptians these days due to the continued construction of the Renaissance Dam, which is expected to affect Egypt's historical share in the waters of the Nile River.

And last month, Al Jazeera obtained satellite images and special navigational data that revealed that the UAE had opened an air bridge to provide military support to the Ethiopian army, with the help of private shipping companies.

The pictures and data showed extensive Emirati military support to Ethiopian air bases, and also revealed the presence of a Chinese "Wing Loong" drone in the Ethiopian military bases.
