December 22, 2021 The number of Covid outbreaks in

the UK

jumped to above 100,000 for the first time since the pandemic began on Wednesday, a result that increases pressure on the government to introduce new restrictions, despite the executive ruling out further measures before Christmas .



Over the past 24 hours, 106,122 new cases have been reported, up 35% from a week ago. However, growth appears to be slowing from the 75% jump on a weekly basis recorded on 16 December. In London, the region most affected by the Omicron variant, hospital admissions rose to 301 on Monday, the highest level since February 7.



Meanwhile, the campaign for the administration of the third vaccine continues: 968,665 booster doses administered in the last 24 hours. 



In

Israel

, the Minister of Health, Nitzan Horowitz, announced that the fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine will begin next week for Israeli citizens over the age of 60; for inoculation there will be no need for an appointment. 



With the aim of putting a stop to the omicron variant,

Germany

also

gives the green light to the 4th dose of the anti Covid-19 vaccine. This was announced by the German Health Minister, Karl Lauterbach.



The

France

instead it canceled the orders for the anti-Covi pill produced by Merck & Co, following the unsatisfactory data resulting from the experimentation and in the hope of receiving the anti-Covid pill produced by Pfizer before the end of January.

In high-risk individuals, the Merck Pill is believed to reduce the risk of hospitalization and death by approximately 30%.

Austria

has decided to cancel the New Year celebrations to try to stem as much as possible the imminent arrival of the wave of Omicron version and, as of December 27, at 22 hours triggered a curfew, including the New Year's Eve.

The arrival of 2022 cannot be celebrated even in hotels.
