Yesterday (21st) local time, the United States decided to provide an additional aid of 580 million dollars, about 690 billion won in Korean money, to respond to the COVID-19 crisis around the world.
In a statement yesterday, Secretary of State Tony Blincoln said the world is at a critical juncture in the fight against the virus amid the emergence of a new mutant of COVID-19, the Omicron.
In detail, it will be donated to seven organizations, including $280 million from the World Health Organization, $170 million from the United Nations Children's Fund, $75 million from the Pan American Health Organization, and $20 million each from the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Population Fund.
Separately, President Joe Biden has announced that he will provide 1.2 billion doses of the vaccine free of charge to the world to combat COVID-19.
So far, 330 million doses of the vaccine have been distributed to more than 110 countries.
