Chinanews.com, Beijing, December 21 (Reporter Xing Chong) Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian stated at a regular press conference on the 21st that the U.S. imposed illegal sanctions on Chinese officials in accordance with U.S. internal law on the pretext of the so-called "Human Rights in Xinjiang" issue. China firmly opposes this. In response to the above-mentioned wrong actions of the United States, China has decided to conduct reciprocal countermeasures in accordance with China's Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, and will implement corresponding countermeasures against four US personnel from today.

A reporter asked a question. On December 10, the U.S. State Department and the Treasury Department announced that they would impose sanctions on four Chinese officials who allegedly “violated human rights” in Xinjiang in accordance with the internal law of the United States.

What is China's response to this?

Zhao Li insisted that the U.S. imposed illegal sanctions on Chinese officials on the pretext of the so-called "Human Rights in Xinjiang" issue in accordance with U.S. internal law.

The relevant acts seriously interfered in China's internal affairs, severely violated the basic norms of international relations, and seriously damaged Sino-US relations.

China firmly opposes this and strongly condemns it.

Zhao Lijian stated that in response to the above-mentioned wrong actions of the United States, China has decided to carry out reciprocal countermeasures in accordance with China’s Anti-Foreign Sanctions Act. From now on, it will oppose the Chairman of the International Religious Freedom Committee Manza, Vice Chairman Turker, and Commissioner Bargava, Committee member Carl implemented corresponding countermeasures.

Countermeasures include prohibiting the above-mentioned persons from entering China (including the mainland, Hong Kong and Macau), freezing their property in China, and prohibiting Chinese citizens and institutions from trading with them.

Zhao Lijian said that it must be pointed out that Xinjiang affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and the United States has no right and no right to intervene indiscriminately. The United States should lift the so-called sanctions and stop interfering in Xinjiang affairs and China's internal affairs.

China will respond further depending on the development of the situation.
