The Higher Colleges of Technology succeeded in graduating 138 start-up companies, 36 of which obtained commercial licenses to operate in the labor market, with the management of 520 male and female students, and funded 62 research projects with industrial institutions with a value of more than three million dirhams.

The Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology, Professor Abdullatif Al Shamsi, told Emirates Today that the colleges approved the financing of 62 research projects this academic year, in cooperation with industrial institutions in vital areas, with a total value of more than three million dirhams, in several research fields, namely: 13 Research projects in the field of health, six projects in the field of renewable energy, three projects in the field of water, 11 projects in the field of information technology, one project in the field of transportation, and 28 projects in the field of education.

He pointed out that the colleges worked within the creative economic free zones, and through the "Startup Development" program, to transform the students' innovative projects and ideas into emerging companies, and the first batch graduated, finally, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and President of the UAE Cabinet, Ruler of Dubai.

Al Shamsi added that the colleges have granted more than 12,400 international professional certificates obtained by their students so far, after they were able to link their curricula from various disciplines with specialized international professional certificates, and more than 3000 students were able to obtain a certificate in programming, accredited From the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence, as part of the One Million Arab Coders initiative.

The achievements included the most prominent results achieved in accordance with the strategic goals set that aim to prepare competencies as technical leaders in their specialties, with their future skills. The announcement of the achievements came through a video entitled “The Two-Minute Challenge”, which the colleges are launching for the third year in a row, in which the Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology, Professor Abdul Latif Al Shamsi, announces the most prominent achievements of the colleges during 2021.

Al-Shamasi explained that the "two-minute challenge" has become an annual activity for colleges, documenting their achievements during a whole year, and reflecting the efforts of the colleges' work team in achieving the colleges' strategic plans and objectives, which are in line with national visions and ambitions in preparing competencies for the future, noting that the announcement of accomplishments this year It is distinguished by being from the site of Expo 2020 Dubai, this leading global event that embodies one of the historical achievements of the country, of which we are all proud, and we are happy that it has always been a catalyst and a symbol of leadership and excellence.

Al-Shamsi stated that the colleges, with the efforts of their work team, were able to achieve several achievements in 2021, most notably that the colleges were proactive in celebrating the graduates of the class of 2021 “Future Makers”, which numbered 4,000 graduates, over four days, in celebrations held in the morning and evening, and attracted more From 20,000 parents of students.

He explained that the volunteer work program in colleges and its annual development has become part of the students' daily culture and behavior, and about 30,000 male and female students have been able to accomplish more than two million hours of volunteer work, since the program was launched in 2017 until today, and the program won the Khalifa Educational Award for the year 2021.

He added that among the colleges' achievements in 2021 was their success in implementing an integrated model of hybrid education, in which about 23,000 students are studying today at the college level, so that this model takes into account the requirements of applied education, and students' needs for training and practice according to their specializations.
