The UAE affirms its commitment and standing by the Afghan people

The UAE delegation, headed by Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, participated in the meetings of the 17th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, which was held in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, yesterday, at the kind invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Al-Sayegh delivered the speech of the UAE before the extraordinary meeting, which was opened by Imran Khan, the Pakistani Prime Minister, where he thanked the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for hosting this meeting and for the warm reception and hospitality. Islamic.

Al Sayegh stressed the UAE’s commitment and standing by the Afghan people, as the UAE follows up the situation in Afghanistan and continues its support for international efforts aimed at building a more flexible and sustainable future for the Afghan people, stressing the need to achieve stability and security in this country and the right of its people to enjoy prosperity and peace. And that the international community should give top priority in dealing with the Afghan file.

Al-Sayegh also stated that the UAE has always extended a helping hand to Afghanistan, and as part of a firm commitment to the people of Afghanistan, it has provided more than 6.2 billion dirhams (1.7 billion US dollars) in aid over the past years, mainly focused on providing food, health services, water and sanitation. health, housing, and education, with special attention to women and children. He pointed out that the UAE has spared no effort in helping the Afghan people, as it has launched an air bridge to transport humanitarian needs with more than 485 tons, including medical and food relief supplies, in addition to pledging to implement humanitarian projects worth nearly 50 million US dollars, and providing more humanitarian aid through its institutions. Humanitarianism, and full cooperation with the institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to contribute to the delivery of aid to the most needy groups of the Afghan people.

He stressed the need for the Islamic Development Bank to play a pioneering and humanitarian role and direct some of its relief, health, educational and humanitarian projects to the Afghan people, calling on relief and humanitarian institutions and international charitable societies to direct part of their aid and humanitarian work to the Afghan people, and called on the international community to show solidarity with the friendly Afghan people in their quest To peace, unity, stability, sovereignty and prosperity.
