Winners of the Al Burda Prize in its 16th edition described the UAE as a "patron of culture and arts", praising its important and pioneering role in caring for Islamic arts and culture and advancing it on the international scene and nurturing talented people in this field.

They expressed their happiness to participate in the award, which deals with Islamic culture in all its details and aesthetics, especially that their celebration took place at the big international wedding "Expo 2020 Dubai".

The award celebrated the winners during an evening at the Dubai Exhibition Center at Expo 2020 Dubai, in the presence of Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, and Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth.

The total number of winning works throughout its history amounted to 300 works, which varied between poems and paintings, which in their entirety reflect the great cultural and artistic legacy of Islamic civilization.

The award included six categories: traditional calligraphy, decoration, modern calligraphy, classical poetry, Nabati poetry, and typographic design. In the traditional calligraphy category, Muhammad Jaber Abu El-Ela (Egypt) won first place, Maryam Narouzi in second place, Noaman Tayseer Ragab in third place, Ahmed Ali in fourth place, and Mahfouz Dhul-Noun in fifth place.

In the Modern Calligraphy category, Mahsa Jawad Dawajy (Iran), Diaa Al-Jazaery won the second place, Babak Muhammad Ali in the third place, and Masoud Asghar in the fourth place.

As for the decoration category, Mehribian Miza Kaya (Turkey), Masoumeh Ahmed Moradi in second place, Bisana Mahdavi in ​​third place, Askar Moradi in fourth place, and Zeinab Ibrahim Shaheen in fifth place.

While Heba El-Feki (Egypt) won the first place in the classical poetry category, Diaa Al-Kilani in second place, Lamis Al-Rahbi in third place, and Bahja Masri Adlabi in fourth place.

While in the Nabati poetry category, Abdulaziz Al-Amiri (Oman) won first place, Muhammad Hamdan ranked second, Ali Al-Qarni took third place, and Muzna Rabea Al-Buraiki took fourth place.

While the artists: Doaa Abazid, Tariq Samir, Jamal Al-Din Muhammad, Reza Babajani, Beta Amal, won the Typographic Design Award, which is the newly created category within the award.

For his part, Muhammad Jaber Abu Al-Ela, winner of the first place in the traditional calligraphy category, said: “I participated in the activities of the Al Burda Award last year and got third place, and today I managed to get first place, and I am happy to be honored during the grand global wedding Expo 2020 Dubai.”

He praised the great care given by the UAE leadership to the Al Burda Award, and its keenness to honor the winners and participants.

For his part, Abdulaziz Al-Amiri, winner of the first place in the Nabati poetry category, said: “I was pleased to participate in the activities of the Al-Burdah Prize in its 16th session to praise the Master of the Messengers, our master Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him,” considering that participation in these competitions is a pride for every poet.

For her part, Heba El-Feki, who won first place in the classical poetry category, expressed her happiness with the victory.

She said, "All thanks to the UAE, the sponsor of culture and the arts, and the pioneer in various fields."

Meanwhile, Mahsa Dowaji, who won first place in Modern Calligraphy, said, "This is the first time that I have participated in the activities of the Al-Burda Award, and in fact, I am overwhelmed with indescribable happiness by achieving first place in the competition."

Mehribian Miza Kaya said: "I am participating for the first time in the award, and I am happy to have won first place in the decoration category."

For his part, Jamal Al-Din Al-Samani said: "I am happy to be honored in the typographic design category, and indeed participating in the competition was fun and during which I was able to gain more experiences, as it is the first time that I participate."
