The special forces of the 49th Combined Arms Army used the upgraded Tiger-M armored vehicles in a lesson to search for and destroy a simulated enemy field camp.

This was reported by the press service of the Southern Military District.

During the event, which took place in the Krasnodar Territory, raid and counter-sabotage actions were practiced.

“Servicemen as part of special forces groups in a given area made a march and entered the zone of reconnaissance missions, where they found and destroyed a mock enemy field camp,” the website of the Russian Defense Ministry says.

As noted in the materials of the military department, "Tiger-M" is intended for reconnaissance, escort and protection of columns, patrolling and fire support of troops.

The key advantage of the vehicle in the RF Ministry of Defense is the high level of crew protection.

“The vehicle is equipped with bullet-resistant tires with anti-explosion inserts that deflect the blast wave, integrated ceramic armor, mine protection, special glazing and five video cameras for all-round vision.

Provides for the placement of ammunition, communications and a blocker of radio-controlled explosive devices, "- indicated on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Special and multipurpose

"Tiger-M" was developed by the team of the "Military Industrial Company" (MIC).

The upgraded vehicles entered service with the Southern Military District troops stationed in the Krasnodar Territory in 2020 in modifications for special forces.

The official name of this version of the armored car is a special purpose vehicle ASN 233115 "Tiger-M SpN".

According to the developer, the vehicle can be used during combined arms combat, during special and counter-terrorist operations.

ASN 233115 was designed on the basis of the multipurpose armored vehicle AMN 233114 "Tiger-M".

Outwardly, it is similar to this machine and other representatives of the "cat" family, which, as the military-industrial complex emphasizes, makes it possible to hide from the enemy belonging to special forces.

The innovations introduced by Russian engineers when creating the Tiger-M SpN car concern its interior - it is adapted to accommodate outboard weapons, ammunition for it, special equipment and communications.

“The use by the crew of the standard armament of motorized rifle subunits makes it possible to use it both from the vehicle and autonomously.

For firing from an armored car, a turntable with mounts for mounting weapons and a double-leaf hatch is mounted on the roof of the hull, ”the military-industrial complex website explains.

ASN 233115 is equipped with a diesel multi-fuel engine YaMZ-5347-10 with a capacity of 215 liters.

With.

and an automatic tire pressure regulation system, which changes the pressure depending on the road conditions and provides movement in case of violation of the integrity of the wheels (puncture, puncture).

For a convenient and comfortable stay of the crew in the cabin, a heater, air conditioner and filtering unit are provided.

The total mass of the ASN 233115 in the modification for special forces is 7932 kg, the carrying capacity is 1200 kg, the fuel range is 1000 km, the maximum speed on the highway is 120 km / h.

It is assumed that the "Tiger-M" will be supplied not only to the Russian army, but also to Moscow's foreign partners in the area of military-technical cooperation.

The Rosoboronexport website reports that the Tiger-M SpN combines the qualities of an all-terrain vehicle and a high-speed maneuverable vehicle.

An independent torsion bar suspension is installed on the domestic car, which allows, according to the manufacturer, "to reach the maximum possible speeds when driving over rough terrain."

Like the Ministry of Defense, the company drew attention to the high security of the ASN 233115 crew. The special forces version received a body welded from steel sheets and attached to the frame in ten places through rubber cushions.

“The body armor of multipurpose and special-purpose vehicles protects the crew, main components and assemblies during circular fire from an AKM machine gun with a PS bullet of 7.62 mm caliber and from an AK-74 machine gun with a PS bullet of 5.45 mm caliber, which roughly corresponds to the first level of ballistic protection according to STANAG 4569 (the standard for the protection of armored vehicles, adopted by NATO. -

The company also claims that Tigr-M SpN is capable of maintaining "high survivability and mobility" when 0.6 kg of explosive is detonated under the wheel and bottom.

According to experts, the ASN 233115 owes such high tactical and technical characteristics to its multipurpose predecessor AMN 233114, on which key design solutions were worked out.

This version of "Tiger-M" is a less heavy and lifting machine.

At the same time, the indicators of speed and power reserve for AMN 233114 are similar to modifications for special forces.

The main feature of the Tiger-M multipurpose vehicle is the Arbalet-DM remotely controlled combat module (DUBM), which was developed by the military-industrial complex team together with the engineers and designers of the Oruzheynye Masterskiye LLC.

The product is placed on the roof of the car.

Its modular architecture allows the installation of various types of firearms: 7.62-mm PKTM machine gun, 12.7-mm 6P49 "Kord" machine gun, 40-mm automatic grenade launcher system.

“In addition to the main one, auxiliary weapons are placed on the DBM: four launchers of the 902 type system for shooting smoke (aerosol) grenades 3D6, 3D6M or 3D17, cluster munitions of the BK-S, BK-D, BK- types can also be used for firing from launchers. R ", - says the website of the military-industrial complex.

For the detection and tracking of targets, an aiming and observation complex is responsible, consisting of an object tracking machine, a weapon stabilizer, a thermal imaging sight, a laser rangefinder, an overview and television cameras.

"Crossbow-DM" is capable of striking not only ground targets, but also drones.

The distance of detecting the enemy at the DUBM depends on the time of day.

At night it is at least 1.5 km, during the day - at least 2.5 km.

As the developers believe, the removal of strike weapons outside the habitable compartment allows not only to secure the shooter, but also to rationally use the released internal volume of the vehicle.

Now the Tiger's cabin can accommodate more protective equipment, ammunition and fuel.

"Speed and surprise"

Another representative of the "cat" family of Russian army all-terrain vehicles is an armored car in the buggy version.

The appearance of the car is radically different from the existing Tigers models.

This armored car received a new hull, armament and a 240 hp engine.

With.

The all-terrain vehicle platform can be equipped with four machine guns, two portable anti-aircraft systems and pods for firing RPG-26 anti-tank rocket grenades or RShG-2 assault ammunition.

The main purpose of the buggy is to carry out deep raids behind enemy lines by special forces.

The car was first presented at the international military-technical forum "Army-2020".

On the sidelines of this exhibition, in an interview with RT, the general director of the military-industrial complex, Alexander Krasovitsky, said that the "Tiger" in such an unusual design was created in order to meet the needs of the military for the installation of more powerful weapons.

The head of the enterprise said that it was decided to increase the carrying capacity by significantly lightening the armored structure of the car.

As a result, the "Tiger" was able to deploy up to 2.2-2.3 tons of weapons.

As military expert Alexei Khlopotov explained in an interview with RT, the practice of using a buggy is quite widespread in special forces of foreign countries located south of Russian latitudes.

Most often, this type of car is used in desert and steppe areas.

In the Russian Federation, buggies can be operated in the Southern Military District and in the North Caucasus, the analyst noted.

“For swift raid and assault operations in desert and steppe conditions, it is more efficient to use just such a radically lightweight transport.

In addition, it can be transferred without any problems by helicopters, fixing it to an external sling.

Yes, the level of protection of the buggy is much worse, but it provides an advantage in speed and surprise, ”says Khlopotov.

In general, as the expert said, a feature of the entire family of "Tigers" is the design "on the principle of the armored personnel carrier".

Armored vehicles received an all-armored body and a number of units from armored personnel carriers in service with the Russian army.

“It is believed that the“ Tiger ”was somewhat weighted because of this.

However, for its class, this family has a high level of security, has good cross-country ability and very serious speed qualities.

Such vehicles are optimally suited for the actions of maneuvering groups, including reconnaissance and special forces, "explained Khlopotov.

In a conversation with RT, Dmitry Litovkin, editor of the Nezavisimoye Voennoye Obozreniye newspaper, drew attention to the fact that it is no coincidence that since 2015, Tigers have been widely used by Russian military personnel in Syria.

In particular, these armored vehicles are used by the military police of the Russian Federation.

“Only in real combat conditions can the reliability of military equipment and weapons be confirmed.

For the Tigers, the Syrian operation became such an exam: a number of alarming incidents occurred with our military, but the armored capsules with which these vehicles are equipped saved the lives of our servicemen, ”Litovkin emphasized.
