The seven members of the former political office who had taken legal action against President Eddie Komboigo to cancel the holding of the congress were sanctioned.

They get a six-month suspension.

President Blaise Compaoré retains his title of honorary president.

But by withdrawing all of his powers, he will no longer have any influence on the functioning of the party, which he himself founded 25 years ago.
