A huge dossier awaits him.
British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has been appointed to take over post-Brexit issues after Secretary of State David Frost resigned on Saturday evening, Downing Street announced on Sunday.
The head of diplomacy will lead negotiations with the European Union on the controversial protocol governing specific customs arrangements in Northern Ireland, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a statement.
"Liz Truss will assume ministerial responsibility for relations with the European Union with immediate effect," they said.
