The World Government Summit Foundation launched a new report entitled “The Future of Public Service… Innovative Models to Strengthen the Government Work Sector and Attract Talents around the World”, as part of its series of knowledge reports aimed at empowering governments and helping them to devise flexible work methods and concepts that enhance their readiness for the future and contribute to developing performance. For the good of societies and peoples, the report aims to foresee the future of the basic skill differentials for employees.

The report, which was prepared in cooperation with Accenture, discussed the future of government work and the challenges it faces, the discrepancy between the workforce, the gaps in the level of basic skills for employees, jobs and their differences between one government and another, the size of the workforce in the government sector, and the growth of the temporary workforce in the government sector. The Deputy Director of the World Government Summit, Muhammad Yousef Al-Sharhan, stressed that future skills, and enabling government agencies to enhance their competitiveness in attracting and maintaining talent and skills, and developing human capital, are essential elements in the success of any government in keeping pace with the rapid changes that the world is witnessing, and preparing for the next stage. He pointed out that the series of reports launched by the World Government Summit contribute to improving the level of performance and government work, through the visions, experiences and models they provide that motivate governments to develop their own practices that keep pace with the requirements of the future, contribute to its design efforts, and reflect positively on the lives of societies.

For his part, Executive Director of Accenture, a management consultancy in the Middle East, Gianmario Pisano, said: "As governments head to the next stage of recovery from the pandemic, government employees are striving to do their job, equipped with limited tools and resources."

He added, "Out of the 16 industries that were evaluated, the government sector is the least recommended according to our research, despite the increasing importance of its role in supporting society and the economy more than ever before.. Government employees need to redefine their goals, adopt flexible ways of working, and harness Technology to increase their potential.. Now is the time to make a brave shift to improve the government sector as a preferred place to work by enhancing brand, employee experience and future skill sets.”
