December 18, 2021 From Monday, December 20, only those who have already received the third dose of the anti Covid vaccine will be able to enter Austria without restrictions.

People who have been vaccinated (but have not yet received the third dose) or cured will need to have a PCR negative swab no older than 72 hours.

For the non-immunized, instead, a ten-day quarantine is triggered.

Isolation can be stopped after five days with a negative PCR.

This was announced by Health Minister Wolfgang Mueckstein.

The measure does not apply to children up to 12 years of age, pregnant women and people who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons.

For cross-border commuters, the '3-G' pass (healed, vaccinated or tested) is sufficient. "This is the only way we can curb the spread of Omicron," said Mueckstein.

The chairman of the lift operators in Austria, Franz Hoerl, called the measure "totally out of this world".

With such short notice, he commented, it would not be viable for those traveling several days to arrive in Austria.
